Customer Service We strive to offer great customer service. For us, great service means being friendly, knowledgeable, and available for our customers to ensure a positive buying, boarding, breeding or training experience. We welcome customers to call or e-mail us with any questions they have about our alpacas, our services or alpacas in general.
Alpaca Sales Buying an alpaca should be one of the most enjoyable events in your life! After all, you're not only purchasing alpacas as an investment, you are buying a new lifestyle. You will be embarking on an exciting new adventure where you will be learning about animal husbandry, farming and most important of all - you will enjoy seeing your investment grow. This is a slower paced process, after all, it takes a female alpaca almost a full year to have a cria. And during that time, you'll get the opportunity to interact with and nurture your investment.
We will provide histories of each alpaca's pedigree and medical records. We offer six months of free boarding at our farm for all alpacas purchased from Thane's Neck Farm. This will give you the time you need to prepare your farm for your new alpacas. We have financing available, call us for the details.
Hands-on Education At Thane's Neck Farm our goal is to have customers who are pleased with the alpacas they purchase. We want to make sure our customers are prepared to care for their newly acquired alpacas. Come and spend time on the farm going over herd health and learning how to trim toe nails, check ears, eyes and give vaccinations. Discussions of nutrition, barn and pasture layouts, breeding plans and more are welcome on the farm, by phone or via e-mail.
Boarding/Agisting Boarding, also called agisting, is available when someone wants to get started with alpacas but doesn't have the ability to keep the animals at his or her own farm. At Thane's Neck Farm we are more than happy to board alpacas long-term for those that want to invest in alpacas but do not desire to start a farm of their own. Also, we will gladly board your animals while you are preparing your farm for your new alpacas. Your animals will receive the same excellent care and treatment as our own alpacas receive.
Our current rate for agisting is $2.50 per animal per day. Cria by their mother's side are free until four months old. Agistment includes daily food, minerals and water, monthly vaccinations, deworming shots, nail trimming, tooth trimming, room to cush in the barn and space to pronk in the pastures.
Training & Handling We believe alpacas should be easy to catch, handle, halter and lead, and have instigated a training program on the farm based on Marty McGee Bennett's principles to ensure our alpacas meet these criteria.
In accordance with this belief, we offer our customers the chance to attend free one on one training sessions where you can learn to handle your alpacas in an manner which will keep them easy to catch and handle. This leads to greater pleasure for you as a new alpaca owner - the value of being able to interact with your alpaca goes beyond price! Most people are novices when it comes to dealing with these delightful animals, and are both disappointed and frustrated if they find their new pet spends all its time at the far end of the paddock, cannot be caught, and vigorously fights being haltered! Don't be disappointed - ensure your new alpaca has all the training and handling it needs before you purchase - visit our farm and see the difference our commitment to having easily handleable animals makes.
